[jira] [Created] (IMPALA-14841) Rewrite service management to use systemd in bootstrap_system.sh

Laszlo Gaal created IMPALA-14841:
------------------------------------

Summary: Rewrite service management to use systemd in bootstrap_system.sh
                 Key: IMPALA-14841
                 URL: https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/IMPALA-14841
             Project: IMPALA
          Issue Type: Improvement
          Components: Infrastructure
    Affects Versions: Impala 5.0.0
            Reporter: Laszlo Gaal

{{bootstrap_system.sh}} installs, (re)configures, starts and stops various Linux services as it sets up the workstation environment for Impala development. These service management actions are mostly performed via old, System V init-style (or maybe Ubuntu upstart-style) calls, using the {{service}} wrapper.

Since the currently supported list of operating systems all use {{systemd}} for service management, {{bootstrap_system.sh}} should also be rewritten to talk to {{systemd}} interfaces directly, without relying on various wrapper layers.
