[MENTOR] Need IPMC/Mentor votes for RC7 to be released

Mentors,

As you have seen in the vote thread, we need 2 IPMC votes for the RC7 to be
released. We have plenty of +1 votes and I think that this is good enough
for a release. Can you please vote +1 or -1 as soon as possible so that we
can do what we need to make the release happen?

Thanks,
Om

Sometimes it is helpful to take time to answer threads, but it probably went ok. It was more provocative and as such gets attention.

My check, if I make it will be strictly regarding whether or not RC7 is properly packaged with correct licensing.

Voting -1 due to technical reasons is good. You may want to do it in the VOTE thread.

Dave

OK, how should us non-mentors have handled this differently? It had
definitely run a long ways before I was able to catch up with it.

Anyway, before you spend a lot of time verifying RC7, please read the
[DISCUSS] thread. I'm increasingly concerned that we have a major issue.

Om, I ran the installer in the debugger so I could hack in a change to the
default locale. For some reason, the StringTools(LocaleID.DEFAULT) always
returns en_US on my system. The menus in most other apps are in Portuguese
so I think I have the locale set correctly.

Anyway, if I override the default locale to be pt_BR, el_GR, en_AU, or
en_GB, I get an exception thrown, and lots of strings are missing from the
UI, just like Stefan said.

So this means that whatever percentage of our customers are in Brazil,
Greece?, Australia, or Great Britain are going to have a poor initial
impression. I don't know what percentage of folks that is, but now I am
going to change my vote to -1 because I think it is enough folks.

"Is Apache Model Killing This Project?"

I kinda agree with Greg.

Dave, if you get a chance, what thread(s) are you referring to?

I'll tell you what slows me down.

(1) Work has been very busy.
(2) Apache OpenOffice has just graduated and I am on that PMC.
(3) Long email chains debating various points that appear to require Mentor attention. And I don't mean the RC7 vote thread. Once you get this correct then future discussions will be more about technical merits (maybe this one is already there) than technical details about IP clearance.

Look for my VOTE within 24 hours.

Dave
