You must provide user credentials on the command line for the curl call via -u username:password - you must also have the LDAP server running. Please following the instructions in the docs.

This is really a topic that should be had on the user@ list rather than having a bug filed.
We will file a separate bug representing the problem that you encountered with no providers configured.
