as one of the whiners about jikes and tomcat, i should note for new
users that it Really Does Work as advertised.

the humongous wait you see when you think you're testing this is tomcat
running its first jsp for you.

if you time *later* recompilations with jikes against javac, you will
see that yes indeed jikes does make things go much faster.

for reference, the first jsp access on my dual P2/400 machine takes 20s.
jdk1.3/tomcat3.2b3/jikes1.06.
