The Job page, The Maps page and the Reduces page for the job history server needs to be reformatted.
The Job Overview needs to add in the User, a link to the Job Conf, and the Job ACLs
It also needs Submitted at, launched at, and finished at, depending on how they relates to Started and Elapsed.
In the attempts table we need to remove the new and the running columns
In the tasks table we need to remove progress, pending, and running columns and add in a failed count column
We also need to investigate what it would take to add in setup and cleanup statistics. Perhaps these should be more generally Application Master statistics and links.
The Maps page and Reduces page should have the progress column removed.

Since you're creating jobhistory specific pages, can you create unit tests similar to TestAMWebApp?
The simplest page test (that ensure structural integrity of the page) is a one liner, e.g.:

After looking at the code it should not be too hard to add in the task level counters. The counters code is already set up to do it We just need to set up the links to be able to point to the correct thing.

@Sid the counters link from the Nav on the left is for the Job and only the job. This is the exact same behavior that the Application Master has. For the isUber is supposed to be fixed as part of MAPREDUCE-2996 which Vinod filed. MAPREDUCE-2424 which is to add in the Uber Functionality to MRV2 looks like it is closed, so I assume it works, but I have not tested it.
Also I am moving HsConfBlock to the AM webapp package, because I think there is a JIRA to add in that same functionality in there, but I don't want to move it to a place the RM can access it yet, because the code is tightly coupled right now with the AppContext, and I don't really want to spend a lot of time trying to tease them apart. If you think it is critical to do then I can try and do that. Just let me know.
The system.out statements in the test case are for help with debugging. The test will write the generated page to stdout, and it is very helpful to know which page the test corresponds to. I will try to change them to LOG statements though.

Attaching a new version of the patch rebased on trunk and based off of the latest MAPREDUCE-2675 patch. This patch also includes some new tests to verify that the new pages render, sort of. The tests are kind of crummy because they don't actually do too much. This is because they are copied from the MR app master tests that also need something better so I am going to file another JIRA to update the tests.

Patch looks good mostly - some more stuff needs to be addressed though.
- the job overview page needs to add a username field
- should we remove the isUber field for now - I don't believe uber tasks are fully functional yet (will they be part of 23 ?)
- HsConfBlock and possibly HsConfPage could move to a more generic module - reusable in the RM/AM UIs
- The counter link on the TaskAttempt page should display task specific counters instead of counters for the entire job.
- there's a couple of system.out statements in the test cases which should go.
- 80 char limit in a couple of places
- there isn't really a good way to get the failure reason for a job or task. This is available via JobInfo.getErrorInfo
Are there any other UI related JIRAs which would unlink HistoryContext and AppContext. Would allow getting rid of partial implementations of Job like PartialJob and remove unnecessary apis like getStartTime.

I will start working on the fixes you suggested. I would like to be able to unlink the HistoryContext and the AppContext, but all of the Blocks right now are closely tied to the context they are associated with (AppContext currently). If we want to have sharing of HtmlBlocks in the short term then we need to have them linked some how. Otherwise it will be a fairly big effort to decompose them into smaller pieces that depend on common data structures that are not Job/AppContext. I can file a JIRA for that, but I would prefer to see the effort go into making reusable widgets. I think that would reduce the amount copy and paste code in the UIs significantly.
