When i looked for a simple alternative to xml, i found [http://www.yaml.org YAML] quite nice. Here is some [http://homepages.ihug.com.au/~zenaan/zenaan/files/yamljava/ java code] to use YAML files.

There are other alternatives like [http://ogdl.sourceforge.net OGDL].

Q: why re-invent the wheel with [http://wiki.apache.org/jakarta-hivemind/SimpleDataLanguage SimpleDataLanguage]?
