[jira] [Commented] (ACCUMULO-3338) Update example classpath configuration

    [ https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/ACCUMULO-3338?page=com.atlassian.jira.plugin.system.issuetabpanels:comment-tabpanel&focusedCommentId=14213774#comment-14213774 ]

Christopher Tubbs commented on ACCUMULO-3338:
---------------------------------------------

Why did this commit strip useful comments from the template? Especially since the {{bootstrap_config.sh}} script explicitly looks for some of them, but was not also modified? Minimally, those comments should be re-added, unless there is sufficient reason to justify removing them.

Also, under what circumstances are these {{/usr/hdp/current/\*}} paths appropriate? I'm not familiar with that specific packaging, and I think there's possible risks for including too broad a classpath (as is, I tend to recommend people modify the example configs, and avoid the kinds of wildcards in the classpaths that we use in the example). (For that matter, I'm not necessarily comfortable with the {{/usr/lib/hadoop\*}} ones either, because they seem to map to a very specific 3rd party packaging (and I don't want to get into the business of trying to support all possible 3rd party packaging schemes), but I'm not sure when those were introduced.

> Make sure the example configuration general.classpaths contain some extra paths for HDFS jars which make them more likely to generally work.
