Redirects (again)...
As I understand it handling successful form posting in XSP (e.g. without
actions) can't involve redirecting the user back to the calling page.
E.g. given the following pages:
index.html -> main page, lists all widgets
form.html -> form to add a new widget
doPost.xsp -> add the widget
in most cases, you'd like doPost.xsp to redirect back to the index.html page
on _success_ to show the new widget added to the list.
However in Cocoon 2.0.X:
- you can't redirect from an XSP file
- map:redirect-to can't be used after some stage in the pipeline (what is
that stage?)
I understand how to use the form validator to redisplay form.html until
input is correct but I don't quite know how to handle the post (without an
Action).
Hmm. I just remembered that I can use XSP to create an action. I just might
struggle with that next.
Any other suggestions are welcome,
Per

You are Ok until you try using SQL with Cocoon (ESQL or SQLTransformer).
As Doc says, the difference which makes JDK's not compatible is in JDBC.

You can wait for 2.0.3 (Really Soon Now), it will address JDK version
issues.

Documentation confusion

Hi
Another newbie question, and probably a stupid one, but I find the following
extract from the Cocoon 2.02 documentation a little confusing:
> Due to changes in JDBC between JDK 1.3 and JDK 1.4, it is not possible to use Cocoon build on JDK 1.3 with JDK 1.4

It's the "it is not possible..." bit that I find confusing.
If I'm using the Cocoon 2.02 binaries with JDK 1.4, am I OK? Or do I need to go
back, get the source files and build it?
Like I said, forgive if this is a really dumb question, but I don't quite get
where the 1.3 comes into it.
Cheers
Dan

No.
Why don't you do your processing in the action.

Another thought:
- if I throw an exception in some step of the pipeline, could I configure an
error handler to do a redirect?
