Make front page like another blog

Is there any quick way to make front page like another blog?  More specifically, to create a calendar and move yesterday (and previous items) in the "Recent Posts" into the calendar.  In another words, "Recent Posts" become "Today's Posts".  And previous posts are accessible through the calendar.

unfortunately, no.  your only option is to modify some of the roller 
jsps to change the way the main page works.  one easy thing to do is the 
modify the main.jsp and put in a simple <jsp:forward page="/page/yourblog"/>

i believe Dave is working on a way to make this possible when he 
redesigns the functionality of the front page.
