[jira] Created: (JAMES-692) dead link and missing link to 5000 mails test base

dead link and missing link to 5000 mails test base
--------------------------------------------------

                 Key: JAMES-692
                 URL: http://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/JAMES-692
             Project: James
          Issue Type: Bug
          Components: Documentation
            Reporter: Ralf Hauser

http://james.apache.org/mime4j/index.html points to http://www.zeegee.com/code/perl/MIME-tools/ that no longer exists.
==> http://www.mimedefang.org/node.php?id=48  ?

Also, there are 5000 messages mentioned I would like to run patches against.

Downloaded the sources of both mime4j and "MIME::Tools" and only found a couple of dozen test messages that appear to be the same for both projects...

I fixed the link (it will take few hours to be updated online).
I didn't understand the 5000 messages "to run patches against".

Can you add more informations/explain it?

Thanks, the page says that there are 5000 sample messages. As you know from previous posts, we are working on the sPop etc. and in order to avoid regressions in the code, it is always interesting to have a wide variety of test messages to ensure the changes one came up with didn't break anything...

---------------------------------------

The page says that it has been tested over a corpus of 5000 messages and compared to perl's mime-tools and the result was different only in less than 25 messages.

That corpus and the test over that corpus is not part of mime4j.

Maybe you can do the same using any random mailbox and running both mime4j and mime-tools.
If you add tests for mime4j please feel free to submit them to a JIRA issue in the MIME4J project.
