[jira] [Created] (QPID-4438) Java broker would be easier to support
if it reported a better summary of usage
Philip Harvey created QPID-4438:
-----------------------------------
Summary: Java broker would be easier to support if it reported a better summary of usage
Key: QPID-4438
URL: https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/QPID-4438
Project: Qpid
Issue Type: Improvement
Components: Java Broker
Affects Versions: 0.18
Reporter: Philip Harvey
Priority: Minor
I help other Qpid users to diagnose Qpid problems. In order to do this, I usually want to find out how they are using Qpid. For example:
* How many connections, sessions, consumers currently exist
* How many of each have been created and deleted in the last minute, hour and day
* Possibly some aggregation by client id, IP address or “parent object” (eg show number of sessions created on each connection during the sample period)
Discovering this is sometimes easy but is often hard, and in some cases I am inadvertently misled by users.
I would like Qpid to report these statistics, both in a verbose from via a management interface, and a more concise form that is logged periodically.
