adding Schema-instance

Just getting to grips with xmlbeans -- I can compile my schema fine, and build a document, however I'm struggling to find the correct api call to add a declaration:
xmlns:xsi="....Schema-instance" xsi:schemaLocation="myNameSpace  file:../mySchema.xsd" to my document root.

Ideas?
