XSLTC, Trax and Xalan extensions? doesn't work...

Anyone know how to get XSLTC to work with xalan Extensions under Trax?

All I get is...

ERROR: line 54: Unrecognised XSLTC extension 'transformer:init'.
ERROR: line 54: Unrecognised XSLTC extension 'transformer:init'.
ERROR: line 54: Unrecognised XSLTC extension 'transformer:init'.

(transformer is the name of my extension)

I have tried 2.2 D14 and 2.1

Do I need to use the FULL syntax???  Can I use the abbreviated??
