During a meeting yesterday we did discuss whether the University of
Zurich could organize such a meeting. But due to some projects, which we
have to finish first we could not organize it until September.
If September is ok, we have to fix a date and then start to speak about
the details.

Then I would propose a two day meeting, because if we meet only one day,
people from far away wouldn't come.

The hotel Goldener Knopf is the best hotel in Bad Säckingen. A nice
location in the center of the town on the banks of the river rhein. There
is a confernce fee of 45 Euro including bussiness lunch and coffee breaks
for each person each day. For participants of the meeting there is a
special price for accomodation, e.g. the fee for a single room is 67 Euro.

A economically priced solution would be the Volkshochschule. We can rent
the computer room at a fixed price, but there is only a coffee machine and
no ifrastructure for drinks and food, however in the neighborhood there are
several good restaurants.

My recommendation depends on the needs of the participants.
If comfort is not so important I would recommend the Volkshochschule.
If you like a nice place with comfort I would recommend the hotel Goldener
Knopf.

maybe we should start a Wiki page where everyone can vote for a date? It
would be great if we could fix the date and location soon so that we can
start sending invitations and posting announcements on Xing etc.

IMO speed is not that important as long as it's sufficient for IRC,
normal web browsing and SVN. It would be great if we could work on the
Lenya website, so it should be a bit faster than a modem :)

Bad Säckingen ist a litte nice town, I'like to live here, but the speed of
the interneconnections ist not so high.
The most locations like the Volkshochschule (www.vhs-bad-saeckingen.de) or
my home have 3034 MBit Download and 500 Mbit upload rates.

Only the hotel Schweizerblick (www.scheizerblick.de) will soon get an new
connecting service via cable TV (www.kabelbw.de) which is much faster, but
they can't promise that it's realized until May.

If this is fast enough for our meeting (to provide video streaming isn't
possible), I would propose the 27 28 or of 29 May in Bad Säckingen for a
one or a two day meeting. One week later would also be ok.
Possible locations would be the Volkshochschule, Hotel Schweizerblick,
Hotel Goldener Knopf (www.goldenerknopf.de), or an other location.

If the speed is to slow for the meeting, I may be able to find a solution
in Freiburg.

That sounds nice. I never visited Bad Säckingen ;-) Could you propose a
date?

What about a short meeting in May and longer one in September ?
If there are only a few participants located near Zürich for the short
meeting, and the requirements for the infrastucture are not too high, Bad
Säckingen would be a interesting alternative location to Freiburg, because
it's only 60 km from Zürich.

I hope we have a running lenya 2.0 intranet installation in Freiburg until
September and can talk about our experiences at the meeting in Zürich.

I was also part of that meeting yesterday. If it is any use, I could
present the experience and needs of the Lenya/UniCMS users of the
University of Zurich - we currently have 114 Lenya publications live
( http://www.unicms.uzh.ch/docu/live-pubs.html ) and another 53 under
construction / in preparation.

Two meetings would have the advantage that we would have the
opportunity to finish or pursue topics in a second meeting that arises
in the first meeting which might increase the development speed. But
maybe we are not enough people and don't have enough time to meet
twice. So we could try and see if we can gather enough people and
issues for a Mai meeting and- if not - go for a September meeting.

That would be great. Does it make sense to meet in Freiburg
nevertheless? IMO two small meetings (one or two days) would also be
fine. It might also increase the chances for people to attend who don't
have time on either of the dates.
