mod_soap porting?

Hello--

I was wondering if there are any plans/work under way to port mod_soap to
C/C++? My impression is that, if one were to attempt such work, mod_soap
2.1 would be the place to start, as the Axis code base is in earlier
stages?

My apologies if this is a repeat question--didn't see the answer on
the FAQ and wasn't able to find mailing list archives.
