Xindice embedded in servlet

I've been perusing the ML archives for info on embedding Xindice in my 
servlet. The general feel seems to be that embedding isn't quite there 
yet -- and I couldn't find any authorative (or even speculative) 
documentation on how to go about this. Has anyone done this before? What 
are your experiences?
