Do you have a test-case to reproduce this issue? It didn't hit ProviderFactory.createMessageBodyReaderInterceptor for me with a fault message.

If the response was an error, then getInMessage() is null, as the inMessage is set to null, and the inFaultMessage is set to the message instead. Consiquently, when the ReaderInterceptorMBR gets called, it will throw a NullPointerException on line 64, because m will be null.
