   If you check the your inputs for symbols, they're 3-D with dim0 = 1:
   ```
   [
   [[[ 3.  3.]
     [ 4.  4.]
     [ 5.  5.]]]
   <NDArray 1x3x2 @cpu(0)>,
   [[[ 6.  6.]
     [ 7.  7.]
     [ 8.  8.]]]
   <NDArray 1x3x2 @cpu(0)>]
   ```
   
   If you use `data_forward.append(mx.nd.array(val))` instead of `data_forward.append(mx.nd.array([val]))`, the symbol output will be 
   ```
   **Concat Output** from symbol API
   
   [[ 3.  3.  6.  6.]
    [ 4.  4.  7.  7.]
    [ 5.  5.  8.  8.]]
   <NDArray 3x4 @cpu(0)>
   ```
