[0.8.0 RELEASE] Codebase freeze for 0.8.0 release

Hi Everyone,

In order to make this release happen, we need to freeze the codebase soon.
If there are any PRs you would like to add to the release, please add a
Github release blocker tag or tag me @garyli1019 to do this. The targeting
date for the codebase freeze is Match 15th PST.

Hi All,

Status update about the release.

   - release-0.8.0 branch was created and the master branch was bumped to
   0.9.0-SNAPSHOT.
   - 0.9.0 JIRA version tag was created. Unfinished JIRA tickets were moved
   to 0.9.0.
   - We found a spark session leak in the hudi-utilities modules between
   functional tests and unit tests. We are working on fix this issue before
   publishing the rc1.

It's not fully back :( I still see builds getting queued up for a long
time. I reached out in the #asfinfra slack channel and they replied saying
that this was a problem across Travis last night.
But we still see problems, so it's good to follow up with them on slack.

Gary - If you have the ticket, can you ping the ticket in this slack thread
-> https://the-asf.slack.com/archives/CBX4TSBQ8/p1616543508218300 ? We can
use that to ask for help since I don't want to create duplicate tickets if

Raymond, are we able to use our azure setup and move ahead?
This might be a good point to just move off travis altogether.

Hi all,

I saw  the queue was stuck for 20+ hours and nothing is running, so I
cleared the queue and try to see if that will help. Unfortunately Travis
didn’t come back.

I submitted a support ticket to Travis but not sure when I can hear back
from them. Did anyone contact them before? That will be great if we can
reach out to them in parallel.

I started preparing the release and will include Danny's PR as the last
commit. Travis seems to have some issues cause no build is running at the

Gary,
     We are inching towards closure. We have 3 more PRs to be landed before
you can start cutting out the release. 1 is with me, 2nd one is with
nishith and 3rd is with you. Mine should be done by tonight and I hope
nishith's one as well. Will let you take up the charge on the last one.
Also, in general, I can help you in the release process if you have any
doubts in general.

The 20th seems more reasonable, i'm preparing for the Flink HUDI document
(including the quick start) now, i got the impression that the community
want to reorganize the web using tabs to separate the Spark, Hive, Flink
docs, should i do that in my Flink doc PR ?

writer support. Also love to land as many of the larger bug fixes as
