RE: Tapestry Book

I wish I could help; work on the book is winding down and I'll be able to pay attention to the
reference documentation soon. Manning will likely publish PDF versions of chapters from the book
online before it is available in print, and may even have a complete e-book version available. The
book is in technical review right now. With luck, it will be in bookstores by November (but much of
that is out of my control).

You have to keep in mind that Howard has written Tapestry with no
compensation and that he is spending his own time (and money) writing
this book. In the meantime, if you feel so inclined and capable, you
can organize others to write support documentation, answer questions,
etc. We owe Howard a load of gratitude for his work and there is
little purpose served in complaining of what little hasn't been
provided to us.

That's Manning's call. They have done so in the past, but they have *paid* me for the book, and
they control the publishing rights.

Tapestry is still a volunteer effort. I took over four months off to work on this book (and improve
the framework). Even if the book sells well, I'll still be between $10 and $25K in the hole because
of the unpaid leave. My current employer doesn't subsidise Tapestry.

I've put my money where my mouth is, but there's only so much Howard to go around. If someone else
wants to subsidize me and allow me to work on Tapestry and Tapestry projects full time, I'm very
much open to the possibility. In the meantime, I'm prioritizing my limited time, and the book has
to come first.

Why not put what you have on the Serverside, I am sure that will provide an
exponential increase in the number of Tapestry users - very good business
sense - and also not be a dis-service to current tapestry users. Honestly
this thing about working on the book while letting current users off the
deep end with outdated docs is kind of a bummer really.
