install problem on mac os x

I am having problems getting pluto to start up using mac os x. I have 
tried the folowing:

sudo chown -R shekwebb /Applications/pluto-1.0.1-rc1/

when I try ./bin/startup.sh I get permission denied. Has anyone gotten 
pluto running on a mac os x machine. Any suggestions would be great.
