In Spagic (www.spagic.org), an integration platform that uses 
ServiceMix, we implemented a quite sophisticated JDBC component (it's a 
lightweight component).
If you want to know more about it, you can see the document 
"Spagic_Studio_Components.zip" released in the Spagic documentation.
