Install Error

I'm running Linux 6.2 and trying to install tomcat 3.3 on the box...I get
the folloing error when I try to start tomcat

bin/startup.sh - dirname: command not found
bin/startup.sh - /tomcat.sh : no such file or directory

Can anyone help me out?
