Jackson and other json-ish providers

I'm just wondering why Wink doesn't make Jackson the default json provider, since it seems to be the only provider that seems to work well (or at least was the only one I could get to work well).

And related, wondering why the jackson provider module... um, doesn't do anything. Why doesn't it hook up some reasonable default configuration when detected on the classpath, like the other Wink provider modules do?

Funny you should ask. This idea has been milling about in the heads
of several Winkers. Ideally, I'll get some time to make it the
default and come up with some defaults over the next couple of months.
Please go ahead and open a Jira for this. I think it's a reasonable
request, and that Wink really should consider Jackson as the default,
especially considering the immediate compatibility that would give it
with other JAX-RS platforms.
