[jira] [Created] (LOG4J2-2138) Can we encode HTML but NOT replace newline characters?

Michael Michalowicz created LOG4J2-2138:
-------------------------------------------

Summary: Can we encode HTML but NOT replace newline characters?
                 Key: LOG4J2-2138
                 URL: https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/LOG4J2-2138
             Project: Log4j 2
          Issue Type: Question
          Components: Appenders, Pattern Converters
    Affects Versions: 2.10.0
            Reporter: Michael Michalowicz
            Priority: Minor

Currently %enc{} and %encode{} do HTML encoding and replacing \r\n with nothing.
We would like to preserve code formatiing (i.e. NOT remove \r\n) however we would like to take advantage of HTML encoding that comes with the %enc and %encode.

Is it possible to do this?
Mike
