[Bug 4844] New: X-Spam-Level is randomly missing from email headers.

http://issues.apache.org/SpamAssassin/show_bug.cgi?id=4844

Summary: X-Spam-Level is randomly missing from email headers.
           Product: Spamassassin
           Version: 3.1.1
          Platform: Other
        OS/Version: FreeBSD
            Status: NEW
          Severity: normal
          Priority: P5
         Component: spamassassin
        AssignedTo: dev@spamassassin.apache.org
        ReportedBy: mike@netronix.com

After upgrading from 3.1.0 to 3.1.1 I noticed that some email messages were
randomly missing the the X-Spam-Level header. At this point I have been unable
to detect any pattern to the missed headers. I am using the default
configuration for the X-Spam-Level Header (i.e. adding the header to all email
messages), and the X-Spam-Level is randomly dropped from both email messages
that score as spam and those that don't.

The header issue is a problem with spamass-milter, not SpamAssassin.

------- Additional Comments From mike@netronix.com 2006-03-30 04:31 -------
The problem may be related to a memory leak, as I have notice the problem
becomes progressively worse as the process continues to run. Additonally I have
noticed some emails with inproperly formated headers that look like they may
have been caused by a buffer overflow. I am including an example. Note the
header including the blank space and SA info after X-Length:. Also in every case
where there is a missing X-Spam-Level header, the last header is always X-Length.

it's a moot point now that the bug has been closed -- but returning priority and
component to non-security levels
