[jira] [Created] (ACCUMULO-448) Experiment with standardizing the period of oscillation for server activity

Experiment with standardizing the period of oscillation for server activity
---------------------------------------------------------------------------

                 Key: ACCUMULO-448
                 URL: https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/ACCUMULO-448
             Project: Accumulo
          Issue Type: New Feature
          Components: monitor
            Reporter: Billie Rinaldi
            Assignee: Billie Rinaldi
            Priority: Minor

Currently, as you make the nodes larger they appear to be moving slower because their diameters are increasing at the same rate. Instead, the period could be fixed so that the nodes take the same amount of time to move from their smallest diameter to their largest diameter.

Is the concept of 'diameters' explained somewhere? I think this is the first time I have heard the term in relation to Accumulo.

It's for a new Server Activity visualization servlet on the monitor page (initially implemented in ACCUMULO-431). It displays the servers as a grid of dots, with each dot changing size and color based on what's happening on the corresponding server. I'll put up a screenshot when I have a good one.
