Quickstart advice for parsing a small xml file

Hi,

I am writing a Java application for which I would like to use an xml-based
configuration file.

All I want to do is read in the file and then extract the values for the
various configuration parameters.

I would appreciate some advice or pointers regarding:

Should I use DOM or SAX approach for this?

Are there any simple examples of this which I can use as a base?
