Apache tomcat linux

Hello,

I'm using Tomcat 3.2.1 with Apache on Linux.
When I start tomcat and Apache, I get about 35 process java (tomcat).
How can I control the number of JVM ?

Threads, not processes.  Use 'pstree -p' to see.
