When using the PropertyConfigurator class, if the org.apache.log4j logger is
configured with a level, as in:

log4j.logger.org.apache.log4j=WARN

then an error message of:

Could not find appender TEMP_LIST_APPENDER

will be displayed.

PropertyConfigurator.doConfigure() sets up the temp list appender, but it
appears that the call to parseCatsAndRenderers() ends up removing this appender
so that when the finally block calls detachListAppender(), it reports this
error.  Might only happen on the first configuration.  Subsequent
reconfigurations work?

Settings similar to these should reproduce.  The key is the setting of
org.apache.log4j:

log4j.debug=TRUE
log4j.threshold=ON

log4j.rootLogger=DEBUG,A

log4j.appender.A=org.apache.log4j.FileAppender
log4j.appender.A.File=output/watchdog.FileWatchdog.test2.txt
log4j.appender.A.Append=false
log4j.appender.A.layout=org.apache.log4j.PatternLayout
log4j.appender.A.layout.ConversionPattern=%p - %m%n

log4j.logger.org.apache.log4j=WARN
log4j.logger.org.apache.log4j.watchdog.FileWatchdogTestCase=DEBUG

I believe bug is log4j 1.3 specific which is abandoned so marking WONTFIX.
