xquery transforms

is there any way to use xquery in transforms? is this a crazy idea?

with xquery i can make more complex calculations than xpath, but with
xlst i supose i can do anything.

There is are XPath and XSLT transforms, but that's as close as the 
xml-sig spec gets.  In theory it should be possible to specify a new 
transform that uses xquery to extract data from an xml document and then 
put that data into a form that it could be signed.

Is there something you want to do with XQuery that you can't do with 
XPath or XSLT transforms?
