Each module builds a stand-alone deployable jar that performs a simple data capture / processing task using modules from incubator-streams.  Discussion on the list led to a conclusion that these examples should be placed in a separate repo, so that their integration tests and shading don't additionally slow what is already a 5 min+ build.
