maven pom update

Hi All-

Recent PR's #470 and #489 change the pom files to use pure javac (rather 
than groovy compiler) on most projects.  We've tested it in a variety of 
situations but if you notice anything unusual (and the usual maven -> 
update project doesn't fix it in the IDE) give a hollar.
