Advert police strikes again

Hello all,

According to the latest report from the Apache Advert Police (AAP),
many of top level projects as well as subprojects have added an advert
icon linking to ApacheCon US 2003. Thanks everyone.

Unfortunately, some projects still have not added any advertising
related to AC 2003. For the foundation's benefit, please fix this as
soon as possible. We still need to make a collective effort to make
ApacheCon 2003 a success.

Moreover, some projects have added an advert on few pages but not all
pages. For maximum impact, I believe that all project pages should
contain an AC 2003 advert. Having the advert on select pages is good,
on all pages even better!

For projects using Maven here is the procedure to add an image to the
navigator:

  http://maven.apache.org/reference/plugins/xdoc/faq.html#navigation-images

I suppose there is a similar procedure available for Forrest.

For the set of available advert icons, please see:

   http://apache.org/~ceki/ac2003/

I don't recall any inforcement going on. Just nagging. But we're getting
used at that, don't we? ;-)

Please, let's not create polarization between members & committers. It
serves no-one's purpose, and creates a gap which exists only in the mind
of people that want to see it.

I am sorry if I gave you the impression of telling you what to
do. Nagging yes, ordering no. We are all volunteers and membership
status does not confer any authority to order people around.

Again thank you for your efforts and please accept my apologies.

You just asked for karma, without specifying a reason for needing
it. Not really a compelling reason to hand out karma.

A patch to the site to start off with would have been nice.
Then we would know why you wanted karma in the first place.

Yep. CVS LOG tells everything.

------------------------------------------------------------

Could you see my efforts to be cooperative to that
advert? (ApacheCon)

1. I did re-create ws-site (http://ws.apache.org/) and committed
2. I did re-create jakarta-poi site (http://jakarta.apache.org/poi/)
   and committed
3. I posted "[PATCH]" to site@james mailing list
   (Yet applied, it seems)
4. I posted "[PATCH]" to slide-dev@jakarta mailing list
   (Yet applied, it seems)
5. I posted a "suggestion" mail to dev@avalon mailing list
6. I posted a "suggestion" mail here in this mailing list
...............................

... have I to do anything more?

I asked Incubator PMC to give me a karma to do the
same thing to incubator-site, however, they did not
give me a karma it seems. As a result, incubator-site
is still less cooperative to that "advert" campaign, it seems.
(Incubator PMC consists of several *ASF members*, though)

Of course, I am cooperative and not mocking, however,
I am thinking that you *members* can not enforce the ASF
*committers* to do that, so I poured out my opinions in the
other e-mails here.

Sincerely,

__ Tetsuya <te...@apache.org> __
