I think some of the problem symptoms described here were fixed in 2.2.11 for
PR45792.

Note that one of the folks chiming in on this thread already had 2.2.11 at the
time.
(Apologies for claiming 2.2.14 earlier today in one of the httpd sessions at
ApacheCon ;) Some folks I support picked up the pool corruption/cleanup loop
fix when *they* upgraded to 2.2.14. I remembered incorrectly that 2.2.14 was
the first release with the fix.)
