I am trying to perform a multipart upload from a client calling into my server application which wraps around object-store. The protocol is stateless, and the server is multithreaded.

A `Sync` trait bound on the `MultipartUpload` trait, or an additional method on `ObjectStore` that returns a `Box<dyn MultipartUpload + Sync>`.

Upload each chunk as a separate file on the backend, and then once the upload is complete, reassemble it into one big file. This works, but has obvious file size limitations when trying to finalize the upload inside of the request deadline of 10s

As every method in MultipartUpload requires `&mut Self` what is the use-case for `Sync`? It can't be shared across multiple threads without some sort of synchronisation anyway?

That'd be true of `Arc` but not `Box` - https://doc.rust-lang.org/std/boxed/struct.Box.html#impl-Send-for-Box%3CT,+A%3E

Ah i think the bound requirement is introduced by DashMap, replacing it with a mutex’ed hashmap fixes it too

`Box<dyn MultipartUpload>` doesn’t implement Send if MultipartUpload isn’t Sync
