[VOTE] Release Qpid Java 6.0.1 (RC2)
Hi all,
A memory leak was found in RC1 (QPID-7001) so a new RC has been produced.
Full list of changes since RC1 are:
QPID-7001 - Addresses a memory leak related to NIO selector
QPID-7079 - Log more information when 0-10 connections time-out
Please test and vote accordingly.
The source and binary archives can be grabbed from here:
ttps://dist.apache.org/repos/dist/dev/qpid/java/6.0.1-rc2
Those files and the other maven artifacts are also staged for now at:
https://repository.apache.org/content/repositories/orgapacheqpid-1066
Kind regards
P.S. If you want to test it out using maven (e.g with the examples src,
or your own things), you can temporarily add this to your poms to access
the staging repo:

<repository>
<id>staging</id>

Hi,
The vote is canceled due to found blocker QPID-6817.
I built 6.0.1 RC3 with a fix for QPID-6817.
Please, test it and vote again in 6.0.1 RC3 voting thread.
I am sorry for inconveniences caused by cancellation.
Kind Regards,
Alex

I tested the AMQP 0-10 client against Qpid C++ 0.34 & trunk and against
MRG-M 3.0 & 3.2. I also spent some time playing with the broker.

I dont consider it a blocker, no. I would however rename the RC3
artifacts now, i.e the ones to be distributed via the mirrors if the
vote passes, since the filename doesnt match the content currently and
doing so won't need a rebuild.

Hi
I just would like to clarify that QPID-7091 is not a blocker for
6.0.1. We might fix it in one of the following releases.

Hi Robbie,
I apologize for not canceling RC2 vote immediately after we decided to spin RC3.
Thanks for reporting the issue with inconsistent src bundle name. It
was not intentional change. I raised a JIRA QPID-7091 to fix that.
Kind Regards,
Alex

I see RC3 is already incoming (be good to cancel the votes when you
find blocking issues) so I'll skip testing right now as previous
comments suggest things are working well.
My only comment is on the name of the src release artifact, it doesnt
match the format for 6.0.0 of the name of the root directory inside
it., might be nice to change in future.

+1 from me...
Ran the mms and bdb 0-9-1 and 0-10 test profiles... Kicked the tyres a bit
with some ad-hoc testing
All looks good to me

Making my own vote explicit.
Tested the following:
1) Verified the md5/sha checksums on all binaries
2) Verified signatures on all binaries
3) Built/ran test profiles mms/dby/bdb for 0-9 and 0-10 from source bundle
4) Ran hello world against staged maven artefacts against broker from
binary distribution
5) Ran Joram tests against Qpid JMS client 0.7.0 and 0.8.0.
No problems found.
