There was a recent discussion (forgotten where) as to why tests don't use G1, along the lines of CMS being more efficient for short-lived smaller heap jvms. That rationale is void in the face of needing to run tests on jdk17 (ref: CASSANDRA-16501).
Unit tests don't need to exactly mirror our runtime recommended defaults (since they don't mirror the recommended heap size either). But what is the correct gc settings for unit tests if using G1 ?
