[jira] [Created] (COUCHDB-2931) Mango: type and def should be prefixed by underscore

Robert Kowalski created COUCHDB-2931:
----------------------------------------

Summary: Mango: type and def should be prefixed by underscore
                 Key: COUCHDB-2931
                 URL: https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/COUCHDB-2931
             Project: CouchDB
          Issue Type: Bug
          Components: Mango
            Reporter: Robert Kowalski

Mango indexes which are exposed as docs have some properties that are special - I can't change them as a user.

Per convention those properties are prefixed by an underscore in CouchDB, i.e. _id and _rev

type and def should be also prefixed by an underscore, as it makes it easier to notice immediately that they are not properties which were provided by a user when processing them programatically. Additionally we signal the user that they can't change them directly, as they are special.
