Apache Web and Tomcat on different machines

Hi,

We have a little performance problem because and want to run the web server
(Apache) on one computer and the tomcat on another. If somebody has done
something like that, please help. My questions are:

1) Is it worthy at all?
2) Are there different way to do this?
