[Bug 55461] New: document that hostnames can be used in Listen
https://issues.apache.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=55461
Bug ID: 55461
Summary: document that hostnames can be used in Listen
Product: Apache httpd-2
Version: 2.5-HEAD
Hardware: All
OS: All
Status: NEW
Severity: minor
Priority: P2
Component: Documentation
Assignee: docs@httpd.apache.org
Reporter: calestyo@scientia.net
Hi.
The Listen documentation should mention that hostnames can be used as well...
perhaps linking to the (only partially correct) DNS Caveats documentation page.
Cheers,
Chris.

--- Comment #1 from Rich Bowen <rb...@apache.org> ---
We have a policy of not documenting things that are not best practice. Yes, you
can use a hostname in a Listen directive, but it's not recommended, so we're
not going to encourage it by specifically mentioning it in the doc.
If there are specific things in the DNS caveats doc that you want modified,
please open a ticket about those.
Thanks.
