PDF error

Folks,

We are streaming a PDF file to IE 5.5 browser running the acrobat 5.0 pluggin and we are seeing the error 

Cannot open document - file does not begin %PDF

on some desktops but not others. Any one seen this before?

Is it for larger pdf's?

Did you know that IE will actually make the request for a PDF document 3x.
It does this is a special user agent in the request, con-something or other.
Sometimes this will mess up a servlet.  You should look in your IIS/apache
logs and look at the request logs and verify this is happenning.

Also, are your the failures accessing your application from behind a proxy?
There are known issues with some proxy's and the acrobat plugin.

I am telling you from months of experience.  I had pdf's on a intranet
server, both static and dynamic and had to make them available to the
internet  securely.
