I personally have the following directory structure:

jakarta/
   jakarta-velocity/
   jakarta-site2/

To get it this way, create the "jakarta" directory whereever you'd like it
to be on your hard drive, then using it as the current directory issue the
commands:

1. cvs -d :pserver:anoncvs@cvs.apache.org:/home/cvspublic login
    when prompted for password, answer "anoncvs"
2. cvs -d :pserver:anoncvs@cvs.apache.org:/home/cvspublic checkout
jakarta-velocity
3. cvs -d :pserver:anoncvs@cvs.apache.org:/home/cvspublic checkout
jakarta-site2

Hint: If you're using Windows specify "--lf" before "login" and "checkout"
commands, especially if you intend to send back diffs later.
