[jira] Commented: (KARAF-305) New maven goal to create a kar file from a given feature / feature set

Andreas Pieber commented on KARAF-305:
--------------------------------------

Ok, I've thought about this issue and experimented a little bit. IMHO this feature is a won't fix, or at least a duplication of KARAF-374 and KARAF-56. If we have a way to build a karaf-distribution as described in KARAF-56 this feature would be only a minor modification to this feature. See it the other way round: this issue/feature will duplicate most of the code which should be addressed in KARAF-56. On the other hand, with the current methods of creating distributions fixing KARAF-374 (which would be much easier by the way :)) would stay stable with the current way of building distributions: Use the features-maven-plugin to copy the feature set you like into <repository>, automatically add the descriptors, use the assembly plugin to create the .kar file and the helpers plugin to install it...

--> I'll convert this to an subtask of KARAF-56 and link it to KARAF-373
