GitHub user spmallette opened a pull request:

    TINKERPOP-859 Moved logging setup to configuration in HadoopGremlinPlugin

    Logging setup shouldn't be hardcoded anywhere especially since we use slf4j. With this approach the user has the ultimate control over what they want logged and what they don't. TinkerPop provides a sensible default in the provided logging properties files using log4j.

    I tested the console manually copying the examples in the reference documentation after these changes and didn't see any difference in the output to the console.

You can merge this pull request into a Git repository by running:

    $ git pull https://github.com/apache/incubator-tinkerpop TINKERPOP-859

Alternatively you can review and apply these changes as the patch at:

> Currently plugins are bound to log4j which allow the log level to be set programmatically from the plugin itself. It would be better if this could be set some other way from the plugin as we've gone through the trouble of using slf4j as an abstraction for logging.
