JMeter / Windows - security settings

I am attempting to run a load test of a site that is SSL encrypted. However
I am only able to get JMeter 2.2 to succesfully run on a select few PCs.
At first I thought this was a JVM issue, but found that I am actually using
the same version of JVM accross the board (1.5.0_06). Would this by any
chance be related to Internet security ssttings at the Windows level?

Unlikely.

Can you access the site from the failing PCs using a browser?

Can you access ordinary HTTP sites from all PCs?
