[Bug 123811] New: Conflict with QuicKeys

https://issues.apache.org/ooo/show_bug.cgi?id=123811

            Bug ID: 123811
        Issue Type: DEFECT
           Summary: Conflict with QuicKeys
           Product: General
           Version: 4.0.1
          Hardware: Mac
                OS: Mac OSX, 10.6
            Status: UNCONFIRMED
          Severity: critical
          Priority: P3
         Component: accessibility
          Assignee: issues@openoffice.apache.org
          Reporter: rfwilmut@yahoo.com
                CC: issues@openoffice.apache.org

Crash report on described crash.

Someone else has reported a conflict with the spreadsheet module and QuickKeys.
I have experienced general instability with QuicKeys running; this example is
repeatable.

In Text, enable drawing tools and draw an object e.g rectangle. Then draw a
second, overlapping the first. Select the first and bring it to the front. If
QuicKeys is running, at this point OpenOffice will crash (crash report
attached). If QuicKeys is not running it does not crash.

Exactly the same issue occurs with LibreOffice. They blamed QuicKeys and asked
me to report it to them: I did, and predictably QuicKeys blamed LibreOffice.

I have had other, random, crashes when QuicKeys is running: when it's not the
application seems to be stable.

@Roger,

Sorry can not confirm, but setting importance to a more reasonable level.

However, Startly - QuickKeys v4.0.7 was released 12/17/2009. We'll assume that
is the release you are using with OS X 10.6, but if Startly is not/will not
maintain the code, perhaps it should not be used?

No offense, but why would this corner case be a 'critical' issue for AOO
development whose few OS X devs have greater issues with general support for
Apples emergent OS X releases?

--- Comment #2 from Roger Wilmut <rf...@yahoo.com> ---
I am indeed using QuicKeys 4.0.7 - as you say, there has been no development on
this for ages. They were supposed to be bringing out a Lion version ages ago
but posted a tale of woe with a hired external programmer dying, etc. etc...
heaven knows where this is going. For me it's a vital program - I'd hate to
lose the many complex automations I've set up; I can live without OpenOffice,
but thought it worth reporting. Whether the conflict is something either party
is either able or prepared to deal with is something I can only leave to the
programmers.
