Blog on open source vs. closed source delivery models

Hi.

Microsoft has commissioned an investigation into the differences between
software delivery models using open source and closed source development
paradigms. I am the guy doing that investigation, the ongoing record of
which can be found at HowSoftwareIsBuilt.com. I’ll be doing interviews of
closed source development professionals, and open source development
professionals, and we’ll be looking for trends and advantages in both
methodologies.

Since the project is sponsored by Microsoft, I’m confident there will be a
lot of closed source proponents visiting the site and advocating for their
cause. I really hope we can get a lot of open source proponents there as
well. A one-sided conversation would be pretty meaningless.

So if you have the time, and if you have something to add to the
conversation, come check us out!

Thanks,
