Resource Manager

Hi all,

According to the following slide:
http://www.slideshare.net/mfrancis/challenges-of-resource-management-in-an-os-gi-environment-chris-gray-christer-larsson

Knopflerfish Pro now includes a resource manager that keeps track of CPU usage, memory footprint and thread count for each bundle. Does anyone know if there are any plans to include such functionality in Felix?

I am aware that there are several academic papers written on the subject, some referred to from earlier posts to this mailing list. What I would like to know is if there is an implementation in the works or at least considered.

Thanks in advance.

Regards,
Tilen

ah yes, and I see KP requires one too :). Should learn to read. Well, I hope
these features make it to the "standard" JVM's some day so we can enjoy it
more widely.

How does this work? I though it was not supported by the JVM so couldn't
really be done?

I believe there are special builds/editions of J9 that also support a
similar functionality although I haven't seen or played with any; the
IBM folks on the list may be able to confirm that.

Thanks,
Ali.

Well, I was at the talk and from what I understand, this only applies
if you run kf on a special version of mika (the jvm of Chris Gray).
Not sure what we are supposed to do there... I for one, am not aware
of any plans to include this in Felix atm but I'm sure that patches
would be welcome :-)

Karl
