performance problem

hi there,
I am writing cause we are running in a big performance problem. we running jetspeed 2.0 with an oracle db.
after creating about 8000 useraccount the time to deliver a poratlpage is ~40s!
the bottleneck seams to be the database connection. eache request of an portal-page produce much database trafic vom the database to jetspeed.

is the any way to speed up jetspeed? is jetspeed 2.1.2 much faster?

please help.

with many preferences on page):
